On the auspicious occasion of Eid-e Mabaath (Prophet Mohammad's (PBUH) ascension to prophethood), Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei pardoned or commuted prison sentences of some 3,084 inmates.
The amnesty was granted on the request of Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Mahmoud Hashemi Shahroudi.
