How sweet to read, in these sad and too mechanical and cold times, a story of joy and normalcy, of real humanity.

Pleased to see adoption events increase
I read about one in Texas, and here's a great article (with thoughtful comments, instead of the usual ranting) in Colorado.

Adoption effort gets "phenomenal" results
About 250 families took the first steps toward adoption of the 790 children waiting in the state's foster-care system after Saturday's "Wait No More" event at New Life Church in Colorado Springs.
Religious organizations traditionally help with adoptions, state officials said, but the 1,300-person turnout at the one-day event, sponsored by Focus on the Family and New Life, was unprecedented.
It is two to three times the number of people who attend adoption orientations in the seven participating counties in one full year, said Dr. Sharen Ford of the Colorado Division of Child Welfare Services.
"It was phenomenal. It's never happened before that we had faith-based groups, county governments, the state and other agencies in one place at one time," Ford said. "People care about Colorado's kids."

Patna: Barely three-days-old, a baby girl lying in the ICU ward of a hospital in Patna has got a new lease of life.
Abandoned at birth, she was found lying in a garbage dump by locals who handed her over to the police.
“We heard that there was an abandoned baby at Kargil Chowk and we rushed to the place and rescued her,” says a police officer, Mudrika Prasad.
The doctors say that her condition is stable now.

As news of this abandoned baby spread in the city, a couple even approached the police and offered to adopt her as their 4th child.
“I have one daughter and two sons. She will be my fourth child,” says the baby girl’s foster mother, Yashodha.
”I saw the baby. She was so beautiful. I came back and told my wife and then we decided to adopt her,” says the baby girl’s foster father, Om Prakash.

Bless all the rescuers and the adoptive family. Notice the father had the idea of adoption and how quickly his wife agreed, what generous hearts!
