The numbering of the psalms and the verses differs from one Bible to the next and I don't make it easier by using only one Bible, ha. That is why I always type the text in here on the blog rather than just cite a passage and have you look it up, since often the numbering or the translation varies.
This one line from David's famous psalm of repentance is an example of how people can take one line from the Bible and use it as a prayer to God. Those of you who are going through some sort of personal reformation might find this one line to be a very helpful prayer to God as you make progress in your inner work.

Prayer to God by St. Paul
1 Thessalonians 3:9-13
What thanksgiving, then, can we render to God for you, for all the joy that we feel on your account before our God? Night and day we pray beyond measure to see you in person and to remedy the deficiencies of your faith. Now may God himself, our Father, and our Lord Jesus direct the way to you, and may the Lord make you increase and abound in love for one another and for all, just as we have for you, so as to strengthen your hearts, to be blameless in holiness before our God and Father at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all his holy ones. [Amen.]

A prayer I have written from scripture
When God gathers his people together, he calls them to his mercy. When his priest Zachary offered daily incense to the Lord, God announced to him a son in his old age, who would proclaim the coming of the Savior Jesus Christ. Through Gabriel, God promised his priest Zachary that in the spirit and power of Elias, the hearts of fathers will turn to their children, and the incredulous will turn to the wisdom of the just.
The true light enlightens every man who comes into the world. To those who receive Jesus Christ, they receive the power of becoming sons of God, who believe in his name. Jesus promised that we will see heaven opened, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of Man. Jesus also said, Let not your heart be troubled: You believe in God, believe also in me.

I wrote this prayer as more of a meditation, rather than phrased as a petition to God, or offering to God worship.
This is because I think often about the struggles of fathers in this modern society with so much pain and distortion of human goodness, and so I thought of in a way "sampling" from the Gospel, and a few words from the Old Testament, a reminder of the holy relationship between fathers and sons. In this prayer I tried to summarize the continuity and gift of father and son relationship, first in the announcement of the birth of St. John the Baptist where Gabriel in the own words of God emphasized that the hearts of fathers must be turned to their children. Likewise Jesus himself speaks of the shared heritage of the father-child relationship that belief in Jesus entitles the faithful to. So my thinking in writing this prayer was that it would be a meditative reminder to fathers (and their children) about their essential ongoing role and share in salvation and faith history.

A fourth prayer I have written
Dear God.
You are our refuge and our strength, even though the earth be shaken and our worldly possessions burn. My faith is my palace and my prayers are its gold and silver. I know that You will help me at the break of dawn, and through all the hours of every day. When I hold Your words and precepts close in my heart, I can call myself a true attendant to the Prince of Peace. My ear is intent on a parable; my music is only of praise and joy. Through the tears of personal sorrow and loss, my soul can still smile in the presence of You. Grant me the strength to always follow the path of redemption to You, in the name of Our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

A third prayer I have written.
In the beginning was the Word. And the Word does not die out. The Lord gives bread to us from his own table, the most pure Holy Eucharist, body of Our Savior Jesus Christ. The people gather together to celebrate the Sacrifice, and witness the Consecration. The Holy Presence comforts the lone adorer in the chapel, in silence. Those who believe may count themselves blessed, for the Savior is with them. Though nations are in turmoil, in the Holy Presence we have peace and grace from God. We kneel before the Holy Presence and give thanks. Amen.

A Prayer for Youth seeking Wisdom
Dear Lord God.
We have had our fill of the ways of mischief and of ruin. We journeyed through impassable deserts, but the way of the Lord we knew not. The hope of the wicked is like smoke in the wind. But the just live forever, and in the Lord is their recompense, and the thought of them is with the Most High. Help me, O Lord, to become a wise one, to become a prudent king. I pray for prudence to be given to me; I plead for the spirit of Wisdom to come to me. May God grant that I speak suitably, and value only those endowments of true worthiness. Help me to love the holy, to be kindly, to love firmness of virtue and the unstained, and to receive the pure effusion of the glory of the Almighty. Help me to always recall the power of God and the image of his all powerful goodness. God of my fathers, Lord of mercy, you who have made all things by your word, allow me to be an attendant to you and your will throughout my life on earth and in the eternity to come, in the name and greater glory of Jesus. Amen.

Prayer writing and Bible Reading: 2 Corinthians 6
St. Paul writes some ways that one can know that one is a person of God. I pulled some of the best bits together here so that it can be an example of how you can pull a prayer directly from scripture. This is a great section to consider during Lent.
3 We give no offense to anyone, that our ministry may not be blamed,
4 On the contrary, let us conduct ourselves in much patience...
6 in innocence, in knowledge, in long-sufferings; in kindness, in the Holy Spirit, in unaffected love;
7 In the word of truth, in the power of God; with the armor of justice on the right hand and on the left;
8 in honor and dishonor, on evil report and good report; as deceivers and yet truthful, as unknown and yet well known,
9 as dying and behold, we live, as chastised but not killed,
10 as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing, as poor yet enriching many, as having nothing yet possessing all things.
11 we are frank with you... our heart is wide open to you.
12 In us there is no lack of room for you...
16 For you are the temple of the living God, as God says, I will dwell and move among them.
So you could make yourself a card with this prayer:
O Lord, grant that we give no offense to anyone, so that our ministry may not be blamed. On the contrary, let us conduct ourselves in all circumstances as Your ministers, in much patience, in innocence, in knowledge, in long-sufferings; in kindness, in the Holy Spirit, in unaffected love, in the word of truth, and in Your power, with the armor of justice on the right hand, and on the left hand. Grant that we are acceptable to thee in honor and dishonor, in evil report and good report; as deceivers and yet truthful, as unknown and yet well known, as dying and behold, in your grace, we live, as chastised but not killed. O Lord guide us to be as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing, as poor yet enrich many, as having nothing yet possessing all things. In our ministry may we be frank with you, our heart wide open to you. In us there is no lack of room for you. For we the faithful are the temple of you, O Living God, as you have promised "I will dwell and move among you." In Your name, Amen.
See? This is how easy it is to take a section of the scripture, think about it and its message, and then write a very personal prayer using the very words of the saints, the prophets, the Lord himself. In this case we now have a lovely prayer using as its basis St. Paul's very words. What he has written as instructions to the faithful you can gently fashion into a beautiful prayer to God to help give and support you in those qualities that Paul listed for the Corinthians.
