Blessed Margaret Colonna (circa 1254-80)

Daughter of a prince and born in Rome.
Orphaned as a child and raised by her two brothers.
Refused marriage.
Tried to join the Poor Clares of Assisi but she could not join them due to her severe illness.
She returned to the family castle and turned it into a convent for the Poor Clares.
Her brother had became a Cardinal and provided Franciscan rule for the convent.
She suffered from cancer the last seven years of her life.
She was reported to have performed miracles.
