I cannot emphasize enough how people must stop renaming and re-"gendering" the Trinity, that is God the Father, Jesus the Son and the Holy Spirit.
For some reason people have become so ignorant that they think that it is just a matter of wording, translation or chauvinism. IT IS NOT.
1) God explicitly and repeatedly has presented to reveal himself as masculine in quality. God chooses how to represent himself a certain way for a reason and you must remember God IS the truth. He is not a gender division (equal male and female). He is who he is since God can only be the truth since God is the essence of truth.
2) Jesus explicitly refers to God as "the Father," over and over again, so one cannot be a Christian and deny what Jesus has identified God to be, which is the Father. If you don't believe Jesus you are not a Christian. If God was "the Mother" Jesus would have said so. Jesus was not shy (for those of you who don't bother to read the Bible but feel free to put words in the mouth of Jesus). If Jesus knew God was "the Mother" he would have said so, dummies. After all, Jesus was born of a Virgin... how much more shocked could anyone be than the circumstances of his birth? So Jesus would hardly have held the fact secret if God were anything but what he is, which is the Father.
3) God is not a gender at all. The Pope has answered that question in interviews before he became Pontiff. God is not male or female, and he certainly is not BOTH male and female. God is more than gender: God is the totality of all that IS, and thus so far beyond gender than you can imagine.
4) When God demonstrates feminine qualities, such as the love of a mother, that is done via the Holy Spirit. As you know "Wisdom" is often viewed as feminine, as is "spirit." The Holy Spirit has very masculine manifestations (the fire) but also very feminine manifestations (the dove). So once again, remember that the Holy Spirit is not a "man" or a "woman," but is the expression of God's actions in the material and human world. Some of those expressions will be feminine in quality, which some will be very hard and masculine.
5) Jesus was anticipated throughout the history of Israel and is explicitly anticipated as being loved by God as a "Son." Jesus was born masculine, was masculine, and fulfilled the prophecy by being the "Son." He shall not have that title taken away by any of you. (I have quoted that specific passage in previous posting on this blog).
6) The Holy Spirit is a living presence, not an abstract quality. The Holy Spirit has been repeatedly observed as a person throughout the Bible. You would be well advised to continue to refer to the Holy Spirit as the Holy Spirit, or the Holy Ghost, and not by any dog's breakfast new age name that you come up with.
I hope this helps. This is not a trivial matter.
