What "The Shore" means

Those of you who are not in the east coastal area of the United States may not know what "The Shore" means when you see the phrase in breaking news and other articles. "The Shore" refers to the ocean front of part of the state of New Jersey. It is a holiday and beach area, but also very known for where young couples hook up. Over twenty years ago my secretary in a "time share" house on "The Shore" met her future husband there (and incredibly, he had the same birthday as me!!) Also one of my family members met his future bride there, also in nearby "time shares." So lots of couples "find each other" by participating in "time shares" on the "Jersey Shore" or "The Shore."
