A call for intertribal and religious peace

An ancient quote calling for God's peace, even as this man faced intertribal war.

"It is indeed a great calamity that we have been turned against our own people and they have been turned against us. For, by God, it is only our hands with which we cut off our own hands...If we do not fight, we shall not be sincere in our loyalty to our ally, nor would we stand by our brethren. But if we do, it is our own dignity that we violate and our fire that we extinguish."
