Satan is not only bounded by time (in other words, he experiences the clock, unlike the dwellers of heaven who are outside of time) but satan is also in existence only so long as human beings are in existence.
Satan did not exist before the rise of conscious human beings ("modern humans" anatomically and mentally) and he will not exist, except in hell, when human beings become extinct. It is not in satan's interests for human beings to become extinct, yet paradoxically, because he is not all knowing or all seeing, he tempts humans to do many things that will lead to their extinction.
As people learn to recognize this satan too will realize this and "cool his jets" out of self interest if not morals.
Just to reiterate, satan was not running around kicking sand in the faces of baby dinosaurs to irritate and defy God. Satan did not exist before the rise of human beings in their modern evolved state. The "fall" of satan took place then, not in the creation of the world. That is why his first appearance is as the serpent who tempts in the garden. That was the beginning of satan's timeframe. His time will end when human beings become extinct. He will live on in hell, which is, unlike heaven, "on the clock," with those he tempted away from God while they lived.
