Yesterday I bought December 2007 issue of Model Railroader magazine and am bowled over in amazement at the wonderful "Three Rivers & Grand Street RR" layout he has built. It's 23 feet by 124 feet + and is an unbelievably beautiful panorama of a period city, inspired by New York and Chicago. When I look at the pictures I have to remind myself this is a model city (the tallest building is 5 feet 4 inches) and not actual scenes from the past!
Like Rod Stewart I love trains and modeling, though I've never pursued it as a hobby (except for Thomas trains, about my speed of mechanical modeling ability!) And like him I gained the interest by growing up near real trains.
I'm so impressed and enjoying this article! He works on the models on a daily basis for the past 12 years. What a great example he's setting for his little son as a man with a great hobby and tremendous craft and skill. Wow.
