NEW YORK - Heath Ledger was found dead Tuesday in a Manhattan apartment, naked in bed with sleeping pills nearby, police said.

Curiosity to see Ledger's final performance will likely further stoke interest in the summer blockbuster. "Dark Knight" director Christopher Nolan said earlier this month that Ledger's performance as the Joker would be wildly different than Jack Nicholson's memorable turn in 1989's "Batman."

"It was a very great challenge for Heath," Nolan said. "He's extremely original, extremely frightening, tremendously edgy. A very young character, a very anarchic presence that taps into a lot of our basic fears and panic."

Ledger told The New York Times in a November interview that he "stressed out a little too much" during the Dylan film, and had trouble sleeping while portraying the Joker, whom he called a "psychopathic, mass-murdering, schizophrenic clown with zero empathy."

"Last week I probably slept an average of two hours a night," Ledger told the newspaper. "I couldn't stop thinking. My body was exhausted, and my mind was still going." He said he took two Ambien pills, which only worked for an hour, the paper said.

I'm not going to jump ahead of the police and the coroner, who need to make the determination about what happened and if the death was accidental or suicide.

I'm also not endorsing and far from it, rebuking, groups that will link "God being angry with homosexuals" to "bad things happening to people like this actor who starred in 'Brokeback Mountain'".

However, I am going to use his example to point out in "dog doo simple terms" what I have been saying for decades now. I'll try to use one or two syllable words wherever I can to help people who insist on being too stupid to learn the lesson.

o Why has "entertainment" become movies that "tap into our basic fears and panic?"

o Why are both the actors and those who view the "entertainment" healthier, happier and more entertained by viewing characters who are "psychopathic, mass-murdering, schizophrenic with zero empathy?"

o Why is it a good thing when the material of the "entertainment" causes the actor to "be unable to stop thinking, to be unable to sleep, and to require sleeping pills?"

Practically every single "entertainment" output from Hollywood and the media empires consists of anxiety, depravity, depression, schizophrenia and chemically unbalancing propaganda. People are losing their minds, their health, their ability to have relationships, their ability to tolerate stress in life, and ultimately the ability to enjoy any goodness that does come their way in life.

People are bringing this down on themselves. No one "deserves" for this to happen. But the inevitable outcome of a media saturated with stress, depravity, depression and despair is that it becomes a plague that infects everyone involved and also the innocent children who are at the bottom of the depraved media "entertainment" food chain.

So now we have a baby girl who will not have her father because he starred in edgy roles and worked hard at providing "entertainment," not a single movie of which had a positive tone or message.

People better wake up.

There are already two generations of brain damaged people and the machine is still churning.
