The irony of Mary

It is a sad commentary at how perverse large parts of the Christian community (non-Catholics in other words) have become in modern times when one sees the inevitable "But what about Mary?" comments spoken to announced converts to Catholicism. I never thought I would see the day where devotion to Mary is viewed as a faith disadvantage. I can assure you that you would meet the wrathful Christ if you shared that opinion with him in person.

The irony is that people denigrate the saint, Mary, who is a saint simply in her obedience to virginally bear and raise the Savior, her faith (she urged Christ to his first miracle, which he did reluctantly at her behest), and her love for all people. She ought to be anything except a controversy or a target for criticism, yet people are vile in their view of her as not being an "asset" or "taking away from Jesus." So here is the irony. Mary is more loved among the Muslims I know (and I know many more of them than you realize) than she is among Prots and non-denominational Christians where she is, at best, "tolerated." How good of you to tolerate Mary, "Christians." She certainly has done more than "tolerate" you in return.
