Trees and plants too
About my idea in the previous post. There's much press about how plant species diversity is being reduced as entire species are lost at an alarming rate. Imagine if an advertiser chose an image of an endangered tree or flower species in their material and donated to a seed bank or replanting / landscape restoration / research organization for that botanical species, or a botanical garden for care of that specific species, and then got the right to put a banner in the ad educating the public and getting credit for donating toward that cause? How many ads do you see with nice trees or flowers? Plenty. Here is an example. Imagine an advertisement with the endangered American Chestnut in the background instead of just any tree, and then a donation to the American Chestnut Foundation (http://www.acf.org/) instead of just pulling an oak or cypress image from the file. Rare or traditional roses? Amazon plants. The possibilities for great collaborations are endless. Pay for a student to do a research project? Sponsor seedlings in a nursery? It does not need a huge donation, many small donations would be as powerful. Both would be ideal of course ha ha. But what if everyone had that mindset? A local business might only be able to donate $25 but it would get them some great attention and credibility, and it is amazing how far even small donations can go when used by people who are thrifty and targeted in their application of the money.
