I've used this image before in lengthier blog posting but want to repeat it here in its own context, as I continue to think this helps both Christians who want to know and understand Jesus (and the Trinity) better, and Muslims who understand Jesus very well, but are put off by the Christian concept of Jesus as Son of God.
All of the great prophets, starting with Adam (who despite his sin, remember that he was the first to converse with God and to organize worship of God, since he is who Abel and Cain, his sons, would have learned sacrifice procedures from) to Moses and to Muhammad (PBUH) were men, born of man and woman, who were graced with God as their "Communicant" and "Instructor," either personally or through an archangel. Jesus alone of the great prophets was also a clear window to God. Jesus, through virtue of the Holy Spirit overshadowing Mary, became a crystal clear window through which people could have a glimpse of God. This was physically a very small window, as Jesus was a human, and also could not possibly allow a view of the infinite and unknowable entirety of God. But Jesus was a window that provided a true vision of the portion of God that God could permit humans to view and understand. (And as small as that portion was, remember the Apostles themselves struggled to understand what they saw because while they were seeing a only tiny portion of the true unknowable and mysterious reality of God, even a small portion of God is difficult and nigh impossible for humans to easily understand). This is what Jesus was trying to explain to the Apostles when he said that they can see God and know God when they gaze at him. So the best analogy that can help people to better understand Jesus, and God, is to think of Jesus as a small crystal window that looked upon a tiny infintessimal but totally true view of the purity of God's light and being.
I hope this helps and bless everyone who seeks to know and serve God.
