Baseball Talk: Dave Concepcion

More baseball talk. Another of my favorites is Dave Concepcion, shortstop for the Cincinnati Reds. I was fond of him in particular as he was starting his career in the early 1970's because he overcame perceptions that he was physically fragile. This was during the time that I was learning my lacrosse goalie craft and I had heart skipped patterns, allergies, and other issues that challenged my physical endurance in sports, so I found him to be personally inspiring. He also wore 13, one of my lucky numbers. Anyway, he played from 1970-1988 with these awards and stats:

9-time All-Star: 1973, 1975 - 1982
5-time Gold Glove: 1974 - 1977, 1979
Roberto Clement Award (1977)
Ranks 48th on MLB Career Games List (2,488)
Ranks 77th on MLB Career At Bats List (8,723)
Ranks 90th on MLB Career Plate Appearances List (9,640)
Ranks 79th on MLB Career Singles List (1,788)
Ranks 56th on MLB Career Sacrifice Flies List (86)
