Read this very touching report of the passing of this man who hosted a children's story telling radio program for many years, and who adults also enjoyed.

The tribute on another news site explains that:
Many people have fond childhood memories of listening to Daddy Ameli’s voice narrating stories on Friday afternoons, and adults tuned into his evening programs which were called “Night Journey”.

The first link notes that Hamid Ameli "was particularly remembered for his narration of “The One Thousand and One Nights”". I just wanted to comment that this too brings back fond memories because The One Thousand and One Nights was one of the first books that I read as a child and I LOVED it. It must have been wonderful to hear him narrate from this great work.
